Beginnings School

I researched and visited some outstanding preschools during my quest to find the right place for my son. Beginnings was the school that really stood out for me as the perfect fit for my family. Every day I am reminded I made the right decision. There is such joy and excitement in my four year old son's voice when we discuss the day's activities. That is in large part because of his teachers. I cannot speak highly enough about them. They are wonderfully creative and structure each month around a theme. One month they might focus on nature by using the garden or outdoor classroom nestled among the trees next to the school. The next month they might focus on physics; gravity is my son's favorite topic! The curriculum's core focuses on emotional intelligence. Teaching the children about their own feelings, how to deal with those feelings and how to communicate what those feelings mean helps to foster their self confidence and social awareness. The benefit of my son learning about this is that it has changed the way he communicates at home. We no longer see childlike tantrums; we now hear from a boy who can articulate with his words . Beyond the teaching one of the most important selection points for me in a school was that it be open to my involvement in my son's education. ?Beginnings welcomes and encourages that. I have read books to my son's class, instructed them in craft projects and accompanied them on field trips. The director, Donna Housman, and administrative staff are always helpful and willing to do whatever they can to help your child succeed. My son will be attending again next year. I 100% recommend this school to anyone looking for a school that teaches so much more than the educational basics.
