    At Home and At School

    Last updated 11 days ago

We had a great time at this year's annual end of the year picnic. It truly was a celebration of all the wonderful things that we've accomplished over the past year. Children have learned, grown, and found new friends- some of whom will last a lifetime. Whether this year was your first at Beginnings, or if this year marks your child's transition after a long tenure here, we know that the learning that happens during the first years of life is the most impactful.

That's why we always strive to teach children across a broad spectrum of subjects. Whether it's emotion regulation (the heart of our curriculum!), expressing creativity through painting, or cooking, our children learn every day. We're so happy to have shared this with you and your family over the past year.

Speaking of cooking! We've been whipping up a creation with the children here at Beginnings, that we know will become your child's favorite both at home and at school. Try it with peanut butter, soy nut butter, or for a decadent treat, nutella! Here's the recipe:

    One Ingredient Banana Ice Cream

    Ingredients:

Bananas (works best with perfectly ripe bananas- not green, no brown spots)

    Directions:

    1. Peel, then slice bananas into one-inch pieces

    2. Place on a lined cookie sheet, and put in the freezer for at least six hours; preferably overnight

    3. Place frozen banana pieces (and Nut Butters if using) in a food processor. Pulse until the bananas are the consistency of ice cream. You may need to scrape down the sides of the bowl, but it will come together.

Enjoy immediately, or place in the freezer for a few minutes to harden slightly.

Tomorrow is the last day to place bids in our Art Auction. These wonderful works were inspired by the masters and created by our own little artists. You can see each of the paintings by clicking here. Any (or all!) of them would make great additions to a play room, bedroom, or any family space in your home. Let's get the bidding started!!

Summer Preview: Auction, Picnic, and Summer Explorations

    Last updated 18 days ago

We've got summer on our minds; today's high temperature is forecasted to be 94 degrees, with some meteorologists saying that we could break the old record of 96 degrees! Today's outside time featured water play, and the children were thrilled- running, squealing, and having a wonderful time.

Next week will feature our end of year picnic. Parents, students, and teachers will come together to celebrate the accomplishments of this year, and look forward to warmer summer days. It promises to be a great evening. One of the main attractions of the evening will be the announcement of our silent auction winners. The teachers captured some wonderful photos of the children creating these beautiful works of art. We've posted a link to the photos on our internal Facebook page, so parents, you can take a look at the process behind these works of art. Bidding ends Monday, so place your bids soon!!

Our Summer Explorations program is a great way to keep the fun and learning of the school year going all summer long. Your child will enjoy Beginning's nearly two acres of land, including our Children's Garden, Wildlife Sanctuary, and Outdoor Classroom. We offer true learning opportunities and enrichment everyday including, including cooking skills, music, math, and science. They'll fish in the stream, study frogs, plant fruits and vegetables and watch them grow, until they're perfect for eating. This is also a great opportunity for children who are entering into kindergarten next year to begin to learn and explore every day.

    Rosebuds Take Yoga!

    Last updated 25 days ago

Our Rosebuds (1 and 2 year olds) enjoyed a great yoga class this week. Their instructor remarked about their ability to pay attention, and how hard they worked at each of their poses. We're so happy that they were able to learn the benefits of yoga (flexibility, balance, relaxation, mind-body awareness) at such a young age.

They learned the Elephant Pose, Downward Facing Dog, Snake Pose, Child Pose, and Turtle Pose, and did a great job with all of them!
